Rassman Named To Capital One Academic All-District II Team

BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland sophomore forward Franz Rassman (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga College H.S.) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District II Team on Thursday, highlighting his work in the classroom.

Rassman was joined on the All-District Team by two fellow Patriot League players, Lafayette College’s Seth Hinrichs and Joey Ptasinski. The University of Louisville’s Wayne Blackshear, George Washington University’s John Kopriva and West Virginia University’s Kevin Noreen also were included on the team that is voted on by sports information directors in the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky and the District of Columbia.

In his second year with the Greyhounds, and first as a starter in the post, Rassman has averaged 5.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game through 20 contests.

Members of the eight district teams will now view for Academic All-America honors that will be announced later this month.

If Rassman is named an Academic All-American, he would become the first Loyola men’s basketball player to be so honored since Mark DiGiacomo was named to the third team in 1980-1981.
