CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - On Saturday, Boston University posted an 83-77 win at Maryland for the Patriot League’s first victory over an Atlantic Coast Conference foe since Lehigh topped Duke in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. On Monday, the Terriers reaped the rewards as they swept the Patriot League Men’s Basketball Anaconda weekly awards.
Senior guard D.J. Irving scored 25 points in the win to earn the Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week award, while freshman guard Cedric Hankerson totaled 14 points and seven rebounds to earn the Rookie of the Week honor. Irving and Hankerson became the first Terriers to earn Patriot League weekly awards in men’s basketball.
Honorable mention status went to Lafayette sophomore guard Bryce Scott, Army sophomore forward Kyle Wilson, Holy Cross junior forward Malcolm Miller and Loyola Maryland senior guard Dylon Cormier.

Anaconda Player of the Week
D.J. IRVING, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Sr., G, 6-0, 165; Chester, Pa./Archbishop Carroll
Irving made 7-of-11 shots, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, and hit 7-of-10 free throws to finish with 25 points in an 83-77 upset win at Maryland on Saturday. He finished two points shy of his career high despite playing only 22 minutes due to foul trouble. Irving scored 15 points in the first half alone and ended up with 20 or more for the third time in five games. He added two assists and two steals as the Terriers secured a winning non-conference record for the first time since 2004-05 and defeated an ACC opponent for the second time in three seasons. Irving is named Patriot League Men’s Basketball Anaconda Player of the Week for the first time.
Anaconda Rookie of the Week
CEDRIC HANKERSON, BOSTON UNIVERSITY Fr., G, 6-5, 190; Miami, Fla./Coral Reef
Hankerson had the best game of his young career with 14 points and seven rebounds to help the Terriers post an 83-77 win at Maryland on Saturday. The season-high point total came in 25 minutes of action, which also marked Hankerson’s highest total of the year. He made 4-of-8 shots, including 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, and also hit 4-of-6 free throws and finished with three steals. He scored 14 points after totaling 16 in the past six games combined, and won the Patriot League Men’s Basketball Anaconda Rookie of the Week award for the first time.

Scott had a career-high 35 points and made 10-of-17 shots and 11-of-12 free throws in a 65-62 loss at St. Francis (Brooklyn) on Thursday.

Wilson had a career-high 29 points on 10-of-19 shooting in a 75-72 loss at Rutgers on Sunday.
MALCOLM MILLER, HOLY CROSS Jr., F, 6-7, 210; Laytonsville, Md./Gaithersburg
Miller averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in a 1-1 week for the Crusaders.
DYLON CORMIER, LOYOLA MARYLAND Sr., G, 6-3, 184; Baltimore, Md./Cardinal Gibbons
Cormier averaged 26.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals in two games for the Greyhounds last week.
