Tennessee State To Be Men’s Basketball’s Bracketbuster Foe
BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland will face Tennessee State University on 2013 Bracketbuster weekend, marking the second time the teams have faced each other in the event.
The Greyhounds traveled to Nashville for the Bracketbuster game on February 17, 2007, and Shane James’ jumper with 22 seconds left gave Loyola a 62-60 victory. The teams met again in Loyola’s Reitz Arena on November 16, 2008, and Brett Harvey scored a career-high 34 points to help the Greyhounds to a 73-70 victory.
This year’s contest will be played during the weekend of February 22-24 at Tennessee State’s Gentry Center.
Tennessee State is 13-10 this season, 7-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Tigers, who are also 9-0 at home in 2012-2013, are ranked 97th in today’s version of the RPI published by the NCAA.
Loyola, which improved to 16-8 overall and 8-4 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference after a double-overtime win Saturday at MAAC-leading Niagara University, is 100th in the RPI.
The Greyhounds continue MAAC action on Friday, February 8, when they host Siena College at 9 o’clock in a game that will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
