Former Terp Drew Nicholas Makes History in Europe

Former Maryland Terrapin Drew Nicholas became just the fourth player in basketball history to win a NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and a EuroLeague Championship Monday when his his Panathinaikos team defeated CSKA Moscow 73-71 in Berlin.

According to the AP, the three previous players to accomplish the feat were Tyus Edney & Jiri Zidek (both UCLA 1995 and Zalgiris 1999), and Tony Delk (Kentucky 1996, Panathinaikos 2007).

Former Terp Sarunas Jasikevicius also scored 10 points for the Greek squad to clinch the championship. Making the victory even sweeter for Maryland fans, former Duke star Trajan Langdon was on the Russian team Panathinaikos defeated.
