Coming off a season in which they won a share of the ACC regular season crown and made a 2nd consecutive NCAA Tournament, the Maryland Terrapins kick off their 2010-2011 campaign less than two months from Thursday, playing an exhibition contest Monday, November 1 against Florida Southern in College Park.
Maryland’s schedule is highlighted by an appearance in the 2K Sports Classic benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer, where they will face Pitt at Madison Square Garden in New York. They will also face either Illinois or Texas at MSG in the event. Maryland will also visit State College to face the Penn State Nittany Lions in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, take on Temple at Verizon Center in DC as part of the BB&T Classic, and visit Villanova at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.
As part of their conference schedule, Maryland will play an annual home and home series with Duke, as well as home and homes with Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest.
Maryland is scheduled for Raycom regional broadcast seven times (WNUV54 in Baltimore), six games scheduled for broadcast on Fox Sports Net (most will air on Comcast SportsNet locally, one will air on MASN), CSN only for five games, ESPN or ESPN2 for five games, ESPNU twice and CBS once. There are five games scheduled for no TV-they will air online via “TerpsTV.”
