Adam Loewen the next Justin Morneau?

February 23, 2009 |

Former Orioles pitcher Adam Loewen is getting some high praises from Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Russell Martin. Loewen who will try to make the Toronto Blue Jays roster as a position player, has been working out in the batting cages in Arizona this off-season with: Martin, Twins Justin Morneau, and Rangers superstar Josh Hamilton. Martin was recently asked what he thought of the hitting abilities of Loewen, to which he replied” he’s a Morneau, he’s got that potential.”
Loewen was a promising talent as a pitcher, but he always seemed to be bitten by the injury bug. It will be interesting to see how he does as a position player and if he has arm issues while playing in the field. Loewen is expected to try to play first base or the outfield for the Blue Jays.
