Gibbons’ name tied to Signature Pharmacy

September 10, 2007 | Chris Pika

The long season for the Orioles continued late Sunday as OF Jay Gibbons became the latest MLB player to have his name tied to the Signature Pharmacy investigation, according to a published story on SI.com.

In the story (read here), Gibbons is alleged to have received six separate shipments of HGH, two shipments of testosterone and two shipments of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) between October 2003 and July 2005.

According to the SI.com story, the prescriptions were written in his name and the shipments were received at an Arizona address that traces to Gibbons.

If both allegations can be proven, Gibbons could be suspended by Major League Baseball since steroids were banned in 2003 and HGH was outlawed by MLB in January of 2005.

The brewing scandal touched both the Cardinals’ Rick Ankiel and Toronto’s Troy Glaus in the last week.
