The Rubber Band Theory

June 28, 2007 |

It is truly ironic that my first blog on WNST.net begins with an Orioles reference.  I had a good friend in college who came up with this theory on dating and relationships.   He told me that relationships are like a rubberband: it is always the person that you want, who keeps their distance, that you feel the greatest pull to.  I have kept my distance from the Orioles, but those passionate feelings always come up when I hear the Yankees are in town — and that the O’s are hanging in and winning.  Then the old warm fuzzies come up that something could maybe happen again.  SNAP OUT OF IT, right?!

If you don’t know me, I have been a listener and utility player, so to speak, for WNST for the last ten years.  This past weekend, I was fortunate to have a front row seat at the AST Dew Tour.  Thanks to Fox Sports Radio, WNST had VIP access and a booth in Festival Village.  As a Baltimoron, it gave me great pride to see this tour have such an overwhelming success in the Dew Tour’s first Baltimore experience, with 55,000 fans coming through the ticket booth at M&T Bank to see some pretty spectacular athletes.  The tour is schedule to include Baltimore for 2008 and 2009 and I think it will only get bigger.

We had a really nice contest going on at the Dew Tour booth - thanks again to Fox Sports Radio.  I want to congratulate Marcel Jackson for winning a trip to the final leg of the AST Dew Tour in Orlando this October.

Speaking of promotions, we are really trying to bring it for you fans trying to pass the time until Ravens Training Camp.  The WNST Golden Tee Charity Challenge started this week.  This virtual golf league will go for 10 weeks and will feature weekly prizes and a chance to win tickets to an upcoming Ravens game.  All you have to do is get started at one of our featured Golden Tee Live venues: Glory Days - Towson, Glory Days – Pasadena, Nabbs Creek Tavern - Pasadena, Cheers Bar and Grill – Parkville, Kolpers Restaurant and Lounge – Hampden, DSX – Downtown Baltimore, or The Golden Sports Bar – Ellicott City.  Play 10 rounds in 10 weeks and qualify to play the 3-Hole Sudden Death Championship to be held at Cheers Bar and Grill.  We have some ringers playing along, so those of you who think that you have what it takes to make it to the top, come out and show your stuff!!

If you have any questions about our website or any WNST events, promotions, feel free to send me an email at emily@wnst.net.
