Today’s Orioles – Royals Lineups

May 17, 2009 |

The Orioles and Kansas City Royals will get together this afternoon at 2:10pm for the finale of teams’ four-game weekend set.  A win today would make it three out of four for the O’s at Kauffman Stadium and provide much needed confidence with trips to New York and Washington D.C. on the horizon.

Koji Uehara will make his seventh start of the season tonight for Dave Trembley’s bunch.  So far the Japanese off-season import has been solid and consistent going 2-3 and sporting an ERA of 4.01.  He had a very nice outing in his last turn in the rotation, he pitched six inning against the Yankees in Camden Yards last week and only allowed a single earned run.  However, it wasn’t good enough to be the winning pitcher and Koji took the no-decision in the eventual 5-3 O’s loss.

Going for Kansas City and manager Trey Hillman will be former #1 overall draft pick, Luke Hochevar.  The 25-year old right-hander had been dominant this season at triple-A Omaha and earned a promotion to the bigs just last week.  He been up in parts of the last two seasons, but his vast potential is yet to translate to the major league level.  Hochevar made his season debut in Oakland last week and had to be removed after the second inning after allowing eight earned runs to the A’s.
