Tonight’s Orioles – Yankees Lineups

May 19, 2009 |

Tonight at the new Yankee Stadium the Orioles and New York Yankees will begin their three-game mid-week set at 7:05pm.  The Bronx is the O’s second stop on their three-city, 10-game roadtrip; over the weekend and before yesterday’s off-day the Orioles split a four-game series in Kansas City with the Royals.

O’s rookie, Brad Bergesen, takes the ball tonight for his team and manager, Dave Trembley.  In his last start, Bergesen failed to make it through the sixth and allowed five earned runs on nine hits to the Tampa Bay Rays in an eventual 8-6 loss at Camden Yards.  Through his first five major league starts the 23-year old right-hander has an even record of 1-1 and an ERA of 5.27.

Carsten Charles Sabathia will be on the bump for the Yankees, whom enter the game on a six-game win streak.  This will already be the O’s third look at the hefty-lefty this season.  Through the first two, they’ve had mixed results.  On Opening Day on April 6 at Camden Yards, they touched Sabathia up for six earned in just 4.1 innings, but two weeks ago – again at Camden Yards – CC stifled the Baltimore lineup in a complete game four-hit shutout.  On the year, Sabathia is 3-3 with a 3.70 ERA through eight starts.

Here are tonight’s starters for each side:
