Tonight’s Orioles – Red Sox Lineups

April 18, 2009 |

The Orioles will be back in action at 7:10 this evening to take on the Red Sox for the second of their four game set at Fenway Park.

Last night’s series opener went to Boston by the score of 10-8, despite the O’s racing out to a seven run lead after a Nick Markakis grand slam in the top if the second.  Jeremy Guthrie gave up eight runs, five earned, and left the game with it tied 8-8 with two outs in the bottom half of the fifth.  The inning was extended by a costly 2-out error by Aubrey Huff on a would-be inning ending ground out.  Danys Baez was the losing pitcher after surrendering the final two runs of the game.

Tonight will be Adam Eaton’s second chance to solidify his spot in the rotation.  His debut against the Rays was a dud as he only worked four innings while giving up four earned on eight hits.  He’ll need to display more of the stuff that struck out eight Tampa hitters if he is to give Dave Trembley and his team a better starting effort.

Red Sox ace Josh Beckett will take the mound for Terry Francona’s squad.  In his last start, a loss to the Angels, Beckett earned himself a pending 6-game suspension for throwing intentionally in the head area of Bobby Abreu.  He’s 4-2 with a 3.73 ERA in ten career starts against the Orioles.

As for the lineups, the starting nine for each side will be:

Brian Roberts – 2B
Adam Jones – CF
Nick Markakis – RF
Aubrey Huff – 1B
