Tonight’s Orioles – Tigers Lineups

August 04, 2009 |

Tonight at 7:05pm the Orioles and Tigers will get underway at Comerica Park for the second game of four in Detroit.

Another day… another O’s rookie makes his Major League debut.  At least it’s seemed that way this season.  Twenty-two year old Brian Matusz is the man tonight and gets the nod from manager Dave Trembley and the guys in the Warehouse to make his first big league start less than a year after signing his first professional contract.  The 6’5, 200lb Matusz was the fourth overall pick in the ’08 MLB Draft and posted a filthy 7-0 record with a 1.55 ERA while previously pitching at Double-A Bowie .

Here’s a link to Matusz’s profile on’s preseason ‘Top 50 Prospects list’, where he ranks #20 overall.

Veteran lefty Jarrod Washburn will make his Tiger debut tonight after be dealt to Detroit at the trade deadline from the Seattle Mariners.  This season has been a big time bounce back year for the 34-year old as he’s gone 6-4 with a 2.64 ERA.  He’ll need to be a key fixture in the rotation for the Tigers if they’re to make a deep playoff run this post-season.

Here are the game’s starting nine’s:

Brian Roberts – 2B
