The Orioles occupy the top spot this week with their 10-2 victory over the Indians. Anytime the Orioles can score 10 runs lately that deserves top billing. It was the fourth time this year that the Orioles scored double digits runs and the first time they did it since a 12-6 win over the Pirates on June 14th. Maybe even more remarkable is that the Orioles scored 10 runs in a game by going 2-15 with runners in scoring position. It just goes to show you that if you make productive outs you can score runs. The Orioles scored three runs on ground outs and also scored on a wild pitch. That’s four runs without even getting a hit. Other teams have done more remarkable things lately. (San Diego scored two runs last weekend without a pitch being thrown and the Pirates scored four runs on Friday night without getting a hit) here is the unbelievable video of the Padres game:
By Orioles standards that was a pretty incredible game on Friday night. One thing is for sure. It’s fun knowing the Orioles are still in the race as the Ravens start training camp. That my friends is pretty cool!
Best non sports event of the weekend:
I was lucky enough to Judge the Blast cheerleader tryouts on Saturday.
Thirty eight ladies tried out for this year’s edition of the Baltimore Blast Cheerleading squad. When the dust had settled 27 moved onto this year’s Cheerleader training camp. It’s hard to believe that the Blast season starts in just three months.
