Lakers/Nuggets on WWE Monday Night Raw?

May 25, 2009 | Luke Jones

In case you were channel surfing during commercial breaks of the Lakers/Nuggets game tonight, you may have done a double take if you turned to WWE Monday Night Raw (live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles).

Vince McMahon—never one to shy away from a marketing opportunity—staged a 5-on-5 main event with the faces (good guys) sporting Lakers jerseys and the heels (bad guys) wearing Nuggets jerseys.  Of course, this comes on the heels of the scheduling conflict that forced the scheduled show to move from the Pepsi Center in Denver to Los Angeles.

Check out the full story here.

McMahon has had some choice words for Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke’s handling of the situation and even staged a fight with a fake Kroenke during tonight’s show.

Say what you want about McMahon and his brand of sports entertainment, but he’s a savvy businessman taking advantage of some publicity for his company tonight.

And, oh yeah, the Lakers team of wrestlers inevitably won the match in front of the partisan crowd.  We’ll see if this has any bearing on tonight’s Game 4 result.
