Stardust Memories; NBA Playoffs

April 27, 2009 |

If you’ve been reading my blog, I told you the best thing for the NBA, was Garnet’s injury. While tragic, it opened up the door for the best first round series in NBA history. I had the 42′ on the NFL draft and the 50′ on the NBA playoffs. We are witnessing a Stardust of great 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year rookies. Not since the ’82-’85 seasons have I seen a class rise up to Star status like these guys. It’s like the wild wild west, the old veteran gunslingers are getting slow and injured and fresh young quick draws are shootin’ em down. Derrick Rose, Ben Gordon, Brandon Roy, Thaddeus Young, Rodney Stuckey and the supossedly 4th best player on his team Rajon Rondo aka. “Trip Dubb”, are staking their claim in the “new” NBA. I don’t always agree with David Stearn and his “Iron Fist”, but he took the reins and pulled back the runaway NBA wagon and said, no more Bling, Bling! No more saggy jeans, no individualism, and no more “I” in team. Get your shit together, and respect the past. He tied in the retired players with the new guys and produced a top notch product that will bring in new viewers. All the young players are taking a page from Lebron and realizing nice, humble, and happy is not a bad way to go through life. The NBA over the past three years has been increasingly fun to watch.  “Stardust Memories of David Sterns’ refrain” That should be a song.
