Fang Mitchell not returning to Coppin State

Ron “Fang” Mitchell IS Coppin State.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, as the school announced today that Mitchell will not be retained as coach after 28 years as coach of the Eagles.

Mitchell, owns a career 365-318 record in his coaching career, but was let go after three straight losing seasons.

Mitchell had 11 straight seasons at Coppin from 1988-2000, including four NCAA Tournaments and two NIT appearances.

Mitchell was remembered for upsetting #2 South Carolina in the first round of the 1997 NCAA Tournament, which at the time was the third 15-seed to earn an upset win in March Madness.
