Twelve time Pro-Bowl linebacker Junior Seau was found dead in his Oceanside, CA home Wednesday afternoon having found to be the victim of a gunshot wound, TMZ is reporting.
The wound is believed to be self-inflicted and it appears that Seau committed suicide.
Seau was 43 years old and leaves behind a wife and three kids , and police were first called to Seau’s home when reports of a gunfire were heard by a bystander.
Seau reportedly sent texts to each of his family members simply saying, “Love You”-to which everyone responded without second-guessing Seau’s intentions.
Seau was the fifth-overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft out of USC, and played 20 seasons in the NFL. He played for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots in his career.
