Ray Lewis gives us all some food for thought after loss in New England

As much as the loss to the Patriots stung me and everyone else in the Baltimore purple tribe, believe it or not I left the stadium with some sort of inner peace that hasn’t allowed me to cry, bellyache or bemoan the efforts of this year’s team.

All of you know I’m in the locker room, asking questions, posting videos, texting and Tweeting and Facebooking all sorts of insights, observations, jokes and information from Baltimore Ravens’ games.

This was the last thing on my video reel after the game — before Drew Forrester and Luke Jones joined me on the field to recap the game and the missed Billy Cundiff field goal reenactment by our morning show host.

As Luke and I walked out of Gillette Stadium and through the purple confetti our final words were: “If Ray Lewis can find peace with this game 15 minutes after it’s over then maybe we should find a way as well.”

Watch this video. I think it might change your mood…it certainly changed ours!

As a Steeler fan I love to hate the Ravens just as much as you love to hate the Steelers. However, I have gained a completely different perspective on Ray Lewis because of this video. He is obviously a guy who has his priorities straight and I totally respect him for it.

  2. Randy Says:

Thank you Ray for being here in Baltimore. You have your priorities in the right place. The loss hurt but in no way does it compare to someones loss of a child. Our prayers are with the family.

PS Chris: We love to battle the Steelers but I respect them. You have shown class in your comment.

    Nestor,

Ray-Ray is returning for his 17th year as a Raven.

The greatest MLB in NFL history and possibly the greatest defensive player ever.

While his athletic skills may be deminishing, his enthusiasm for the game is at an all-time high.

Thanks Ray for being a Raven!

    Regards,

Lawrence Taylor & the late Minister of Defense Reggie White

Outstanding and well said RAY….regardless of the team..the city…the race or the age of the person….we all bleed the same color and come from the same creator. May that young man rest in peace and now he is out of pain

  5. Cathleen Ludlow Says:

Prayers for Jay and his family. God Bless them and God Bless Ray Lewis. Ray’s heart is gold.

Thanks Nester! It did change my mood and finally got me out of this funk because of that game.

Ray,,, The best think for Mr Biscotti to do is to fire Harbaugh. If i was the boss id fire him. Because he wouldnt take the risk on that field goal try. Theres an old saying No Risk,No Reward. If Mr Modell still own the Ravens he would fire John Harbaugh. Just like Remember Ernest Byner fumbled the ball in that game vs Denver back in 1990 cause the Browns the trip to superbowl? Well after that game Mr Modell fired Marty Shotenheimer. You see Ravens had 4 Chances to go to superbowl. Just like Shotenheimer had 3 chances to take Browns to superbowl. Don Shula always took risks when it needed to. John Harbaugh is simply not the type of coach takes a talented team to Superbowl. Hes just like Marty Shotenheimer who wins the season and loses the post season. And Marty Shotenheimer coached the Chargers same results fell short of superbowl.I think Mr Harbaugh should be let go. And Promote Cam Cameron as Ravens new head coach.

Nes, thanks for posting this! I saw it live on TV and I’ve been looking for the video since…I even posted an article on it yesterday. Now I can add it.

And Chris…nice comment. It wouldn’t be near the rivalry it is if both teams weren’t really good.

  9. JoAnn Says:

Ray Lewis is a class act! He does have life in perspective and I have an abundance of respect and admiration for him.
I hope he’s will still be playing for the Raven’s for at least the next couple of years! His extreme enthusiastic manner is needed for the team and fans.

Chris, thanks for being big enough to show your respect for a rival player, you too are a class act!!

  10. Monica Bozman Says:

Ray, You are one of a kind. The Ravens need you! In fact the whole darn NFL and AFC need you. But since there is only one you, please stay a Raven! We love you!

    Monica,
    Just a fan.

  11. Chris Says:

Randy – you are right, great rivalries are built from respect for the other team. At the end of the day, our teams need each other – they make each other better. They are the best games of the season!
