Roger Goodell set to make toughest decision and Ravens notes

May 08, 2008 |

  • Roger Goodell may have one of his toughest decisions to make so far with the new news of the tapes that former Patriots assistant Matt Walsh has turned over according to the New York Daily Times tonight. Forget PacMan and Chris Henry and all the other players that have felt the wrath of the Commissioner, none of them will be scrutinized as much as his actions now with these tapes coming out. The only issue will be if the NFL says they were already aware of these tapes and try to put this issue to bed before they open a can of worms they do not want to. I can not wait to see this all unfold.
  • Lionel Vital has left the Ravens to join the Atlanta Falcons as the Assitant Director of Player Personnel. Lionel’s connection in Atlanta is that he worked with new Falcons General Manager Thomas Dimitroff in New England when Dimitroff was the scouting director for the Patriots. Lionel was one of the National Scouts for the Ravens and held in very high regard by the organization. Lionel was the scout who gave me insight that we used on the station on some of the top draft picks this year. Lionel will also be working with former Ravens coach and now Head Coach of the Atlanta Falcons Mike Smith.
  • Former Raven Ed Hartwell has signed on with the Oakland Raiders. Ed was a guy who thought that he did not get his chance to shine here in Baltimore because he was in Ray Lewis’s shadow. Ed was a nice guy and did a lot of great work in the community, but injuries limited his playing time after receiving that big contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
  • Totally non football related, but if you have not and get a chance to, check out the movie Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead.
