Sunday Money – 6-Pack

November 26, 2010 |

For the past couple weeks, Matt Ryan and his teammates have been showered with adoring praise and top-billing in most “Power Rankings” charts.

As we all know, these supposed rankings don’t mean a thing …. unless, of course, the Ravens are top dawg among the NFL’s elite franchises.

And, it’s the Ravens who really validated Atlanta’s catapult to the “best of the best”.

Reasoning the Falcons as the most formidable team in football seems illogical to me.

This Sunday, we’ll all find out …..

GREEN BAY, WI - NOVEMBER 07: Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers looks for a receiver against the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field on November 7, 2010 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers defeated the Cowboys 45-7. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

Take the Packers in a TEASED up affair. The line is Atlanta -1.5, with an over/under of 47.5 points. Do a 6 point tease and take the Packers +7.5 and lower the total points to 41.5, while choosing the over …..

Another factor? The game is in Green Bay. Thus, you can say goodbye to the friendly confines and fast track that benefitted Roddy White, in the game against the Ravens.

Plus, Aaron Rodgers is a better quarterback than Matt Ryan …. period.

Next Tuesday, I will be forced to part with a significant amount of cash, albeit in the name of keeping a spouse happy. The great Michael Buble will be making his only Baltimore/Washington area appearance and I’m doing the right thing …..

My wife counts herself among the growing population of “Buble-niacs”, which are best described as GROUPIES with a sense of style and class. As for me, I’m just one of the guys who pays an alarming amount for the opportunity to witness a dude in a suit, backed by an orchestra, singing for a couple hours.

I get it …..

Michael Buble is probably the most talented vocalist in mainstream music, these days. He has a flawless voice. As Will Ferrell (Step Brothers) would say, ” he is considered the songbird of his generation.” That said, it hurts to part with this kind of money …..

Concert Tickets – $230

Dinner – $150

Parking – $30

Cocktails (mandatory for me to withstand the concert) – $50

Murphy’s Law – $50

You’re not seeing a mirage …. this show will cost me $500 in hard-earned cash. I’ll be kinda interested for the first 15 minutes and I’ll do my best to dwindle the Verizon Center’s inventory of vodka.

Such is my plight. But, be assured, I’m losing money on Tuesday …..
