The 15-7-0 offers a hearty “RIP Defense” to the game of football

The “not so ELITE” 7…

1. I guess Wisconsin’s play down the stretch against Nebraska was fitting considering what they were wearing.

But seriously, Nebraska’s were absolutely no better…

For God’s sake, this is a football team, not the PERIODIC TABLE OF ELEMENTS!!!

Wisconsin sucks…so at least our nightmare where Danny O’Brien wins the Heisman Trophy while the Terps go 2-10 again won’t pan out.

Elsewhere in the Big 10, Iowa ran a flea flicker. That’s what I’ve got.

2. The New Orleans Saints are 0-4. No, that can’t be right. Sorry. The New Orleans Saints are 0-4.

Run that by me again?

Certainly it isn’t surprising at all that the Saints lost at the Packers, nor will any future loss be surprising either. The Saints are in trouble. But at least Malcolm Jenkins didn’t resort to eye gouging Aaron Rodgers…

Of note in this one, Drew Brees tied Johnny Unitas’ record of 47 straight games with a passing TD. Yes, but Johnny U did it with THIS haircut, so obviously his streak was much more awesome…

Speaking of Drew Brees…

Also, I’ve been wanting to get this in at some point…how great is the Eddie Money GEICO commercial? (This has nothing to do with the Packers. This is just where I could get this in.)

3. The Jets are a complete f!*&ing disaster offensively.

Let’s see how Jets fans feel!

That’s good.

Doesn’t it have to be MORE embarrassing when the team with Tim Tebow is out Tebow’ed by Colin Kaepernick?

Also, Santonio Holmes suffered a terrible injury but it looked an awful lot like a picture of the whole Jets season…

Rex Ryan says he isn’t turning to Tim Tebow to replace Mark Sanchez despite the disaster. He did however put Tebow under center a few times in the loss, one play which lead to TE Dedrick Epps getting hurt. So things are going well.

4. Navy scored as many points this weekend as the Jets. When you do that, your opponent only needs a rouge to win.

I have no clips of this one to show you, nor would you want to see them. Ken Niumatalolo pulled Trey Miller and replaced him with Keenan Reynolds as San Jose State stifled the Midshipmen offense. It didn’t help.

Have you seen this bizarre video of Michael Morse hitting a grand slam for the Nationals against the Cardinals Saturday night? He hit it, it was ruled to be in play, then reversed, you know what just watch the thing. This is taking forever.

5. The Texas/Oklahoma State game had a controversy that former NFL replacement refs would probably enjoy.

No one in the world has any idea if Joe Bergeron scored a TD on this play…

Also, Cowboys QB J.W. Walsh is awfully polite when he tackles trainers from other teams…

6. The Detroit Lions have some Special Teams concerns.

Here’s Percy Harvin…

Now here’s Marcus Sherels…

There was other fun stuff in this game, like Kyle Vanden Bosch channeling the Discount Double Check…

Josh Robinson doing THIS…

And the return of the refs proving troubling…

And there’s also the wacky bit where the Lions are 1-3.

7. It’s probably fitting that after the way they won last week, Seattle would lose because of a fake field goal this week.

Hey guys! Danny Amendola is just standing by himself. You think that’s something?

And your “zero” from outside football who deserves to sleep on the roof…

I offered a SIGNIFICANTLY better putting effort Saturday in the Ed Block Courage Awards event than most of Team USA did down the stretch in the Ryder Cup.

Let’s start by noting that my statement is totally true. I had TWO aces Saturday in helping my team win the afternoon session in Perry Hall. (Speaking of Perry Hall, the Gators chomped Kenwood this weekend.)

The word to describe Sunday’s collapse was “pathetic”. Or perhaps just “collapse” would have handled it. What an absolute piss poor effort from Team USA. Thank God most of us were too busy watching football to care.

Ian Poulter was excited, though.
