I mentioned this video on-air when we had Ravens VP, Kevin Byrne in studio with us on Tuesday (see below). It’s my go-to “get pumped” vid clip. Maybe because I was so attached to that team, those players, those people and that moment in time, but I’ve never been more electrified by a sporting event as I was watching the Ravens take the field in Tampa. I’d been attached to the Ravens from nearly day one, in some capacity and standing above the entrance arch and bearing witness to the pure energy rising from the tunnel, blew me away. Still does, to this very day. I was blessed with the opportunity by virtue of my internships with the team and my job with Ravens Radio to be involved, I flew down with the team, stayed with the team, covered the team, watched them win a Super Bowl and then celebrated afterwards – as these men were crowned the best in the world. This is the video I watch before every football game I coach. No flashy plays, no wicked pumped up music, no off the charts highlight reel reality. It’s about looking into the eyes of these men, knowing them and knowing what they were about to do. I see in their eyes a message, which I carry with me, a message which says “I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life – oh lord”. When the time comes where my spine doesn’t tingle anymore while watching this…it’ll be time to hang it up and walk away. Look at the faces of these Ravens. Feel the energy of this moment in time. Watch as their entire football lives flash across their faces. Maybe you’ll get hooked again too.
