Honorable Mention: Brad Johnson – DAL – Getting the keys to this high-powered offense makes Johnson an instant fantasy impact, and the addition of Roy Williams only makes that scarier. Having a Superbowl winning QB as the backup may have gone under the radar until now, but could prove to be Dallas’ best roster move in a long time.

Hybrid Formulary Weekly QB Rankings

These rankings are the latest addition to the weekly fantasy flavor offerings. I’ve taken the rankings of each quarterback by points per game on one scoring platform, and doubled it. Then I added that to the points against ranking for their opponent from another scoring platform. The lowest numbers should have the best chances to hitting it big this week. As I said, it’s a work in progress, but I’m anxious to see how accurate it is.

Again, these are the QB Rankings for this week, for every QB who projects to start Week 7 as of today. Their # is in parenthesis, remember, the lower the better.

  1. Brett Favre (19)
  2. Matt Schaub (19)
  3. Jay Cutler (20)
  4. Peyton Manning (29)
  5. Aaron Rodgers (33)
  6. Phillip Rivers (34)
  7. Eli Manning (34)
  8. Drew Brees (36)
  9. Brad Johnson (36) *
  10. Charlie Frye (43)
  11. Jason Campbell (45)
  12. Kyle Orton (46)
  13. Trent Edwards (49)
  14. JaMarcus Russell (53)
  15. JT O’Sullivan (57)
  16. Jeff Garcia (58)
  17. Ben Roethlisberger (59)
  18. Gus Frerotte (59)
  19. Chad Pennington (59)
  20. Jake Delhomme (62)
  21. Joe Flacco (62)
  22. Matt Cassel (63)
  23. Derek Anderson (65)
  24. Ryan Fitzpatrick (68)
  25. Dan Orlovsky (70)
  26. Marc Bulger (73)
  27. Kerry Collins (82)
  28. Brodie Croyle (90)

*Brad Johnson’s ranking took Tony Romo’s #5 ppg rank and doubled it to 10 before    applying the rest of the equation. If Brad Johnson is half the QB that Romo is it should be a good indicator.

Hybrid Formulary Weekly RB Rankings

It’s the same formula as the QB ranks above, but I’m a bit more skeptical about this one. I tried to filter out the backs who I am sure aren’t playing, but there are still injuries lurking on the list. Kansas City, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh for example, are big question marks as to who will get the carries. That always seems to be the case in Denver too. For what it’s worth use it as a guide and keep an eye on the injury report on Friday to make necessary adjustments.

Ryan Grant is conspicuously low on this list against a bad Colts run defense. As I said, I’m skeptical, but interested to see how these play out. They should get more accurate as the season progresses too, as I’ll make whatever adjustments appear necessary to the formula, and teams start to get a few more games under their belt too.
