The MobTown Sports Beat is going LIVE!?!?!?

October 07, 2010 | Thyrl Nelson

Sometimes, out of a bad situation, something good also arises. On Monday I came to the WNST studios with 2 things in mind, 4 hours of basking in the afterglow of a Ravens victory over the Steelers, and enjoying some tasty delights from our friends at The Wild Duck Cafe. Instead, I woke to learn that there was no power at the WNST studios, but we were expecting it so, so I drove over only to find a freshly fallen tree, halfway down over Hart Road with a power line literally smoking on top of it. The fact that I don’t have a picture to offer speaks 100% to how far behind the social media learning curve I have actually been, but what a difference a week can make.

After waiting around at the studio for most of my would-be show on Monday, hoping against hope for an hour or two behind the microphone, I was struck by an inspiration (and by that I mean that Nestor called me and suggested) to open up one of the WNST Live Chats. Rex and I did, and surprisingly to me, there you were, waiting like me to talk over the Ravens big win among other things. So after a bit of tinkering, and some help from Ustream, today I’m going to try to run an in-show chat room, complete with a streaming audio and video feed. It’s a work in progress but I’m hopeful we’ll work it out.

Click the link below to access the video feed and chat. Don’t have time to call? Send us a comment in the chat box and we’ll talk about it on air. Check us out, it’ll be an adventure if nothing else.
