Caps send Beagle and Perreault to Hershey

September 25, 2009 | Ed Frankovic

The Washington Capitals have sent forwards Jay Beagle and Mathieu Perreault to the Hershey Bears today.

COMMENT: So my prediction that Beagle would make the Caps is now out the window. Keith Aucion now appears to have an inside track on making the team and who knows if perhaps tough guy Brandon Sugden didn’t impress the GM and coaches enough to be on the squad based on the way he handled himself in two fights with Donald Brashear last night in New York? Chris Bourque is possibly in the equation, although he is still recovering from a hard hit in Monday night’s game against Buffalo. Quintin Laing appears to be in really good shape to make the club because of his penalty killing and shotblocking abilities.

As for Beagle, I think he impressed the coaches enough that he will likely be a mid-season call up should there be some injuries and Perreault certainly took a giant step forward this September in his overall position in the organization.
