Every week someone sends me texts, emails or inquiries regarding roadtrip tailgates or events. Perhaps in the future, WNST.net will sponsor events for every roadtrip to bring Ravens fans together on the road but for now Baltimore’s ultimate roadtrip warrior, local DJ Bobby Nyk, has put together a charity event for this weekend’s trip to South Florida.
Bobby is tireless in his efforts to do these parties on the road and we’re trying to help him get the word out.
Below is his pres release.
I will be at Toucan’s on Saturday and hope to say hello to everyone who is taking the purple south into the sunshine this weekend.
• COLUMBIA, MD, OCTOBER 11, 2008: Bobby Nyk, Columbia based DJ and Raven enthusiast, in association with the Ed Block Courage Awards Foundation to help Abused Children, are proud to announce their collaboration for a fund raiser that is planned for Hollywood Beach, Florida on Saturday, October 18, 2008. This event coincides with the Baltimore Ravens/Miami Dolphins NFL game the week end of October 19.
• “Bobby’s Beach Bash with Captain Dee” will be hosted by Toucan’s Oceanside Bar and Grill, 502 Broadwalk from 12 PM to 5 PM. An optional cover charge to the event will entitle each participant a purple V neck T-shirt, a string of purple beads and a coupon for their first beverage, in addition to a contribution to the Ed Block Foundation.
• Corporate sponsorship is also available with all proceeds benefitting The Ed Block Courage Awards Foundation. The funds will be distributed evenly between the Courage Houses in Miami and Baltimore that serve the abused children of their respective communities.
EVENT PARTICIPATION, PROMOTION, OR CONTRIBUTIONS
TOUCAN’S, A beach front establishment that offers a light fare menu, beverages and HIDEF TVs, will also have beach volleyball and trip giveaways. There will be musical entertainment featuring Baltimore’s Best Bobby Nyk and a live band. Columbia General Hospital and President Vic Broccolino have stepped up to team up with Bobby to take the lead in corporate sponsorship. Sam Lamantia, Jr., the Chairman of the Board and CEO of The Ed Block Courage Awards Foundation, has stated, “It is because of great supporters such as Bobby that we are able to provide hope to our most vulnerable members of our society, our children.” Bobby is available for interviews or live media appearances to promote the event. He has already been invited to be featured on “Good Morning Baltimore” on WMAR TV on Thursday morning at 9 AM with Jamie Costello. Cash contributions are still welcome to be added to the money that will be presented to the Foundation. Please use the contact information above for bookings, donation opportunities, corporate or individual for promotional assistance. Other acknowledgements of kindness are directed toward Sherry Lowrey, Ravenettetravel; Mary Beth Burdekin, Toucan’s; Sam Andelman, Nightmare Graphics; and the numerous Ravens support groups and fans that are helping the cause.
