TOWSON TRAVELS TO NO. 2/3 KANSAS ON FRIDAY
Tigers take on Jayhawks at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN3

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Towson men’s basketball team will continue one of the toughest parts of its schedule on Friday as the Tigers travel to historic Allen Fieldhouse to take on No. 2/3 Kansas at 8:00 p.m.

The game can be seen live on ESPN3 with Dave Armstrong and Chris Piper on the call.

Fans can also listen to the game on the Towson Sports Network (TSN) with Damon Lewis and Vince Angotti calling the action.

Towson, which will be making its second trip to Allen Fieldhouse in the last three years, hasn’t faced an opponent ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 since falling 77-68 to No. 1 Oklahoma in the 1990 NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers (3-1) are coming off their first loss of the season, a 78-44 setback at Villanova on Sunday.

Senior Jerrelle Benimon, the current Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, has scored in double figures in three straight games. The forward has averaged 21.3 points and shot 46.3 percent from the field during the three-game stretch.

Senior Mike Burwell is shooting 4-for-6 (66.7 percent) from beyond the arc over the last three games. He’s also grabbed seven or more rebounds in three of the first four games this season. Freshman John Davis was a bright spot for the Tigers at Villanova, tallying a season-high nine points on 4-for-5 shooting to go along with eight rebounds.

Kansas (3-0), which averages 86.7 points per game, is coming off an 86-66 home win over Iona on Tuesday. The Jayhawks are led by sophomore Perry Ellis, who averages 19.0 points per game and has scored 20 or more in each of the last two games.

Kansas is the second winningest program in NCAA Division I history with 2,104 wins and the Jayhawks have won 65 straight games against non-conference foes in Allen Fieldhouse.
