TOWSON SET TO HOST BATTLE 4 ATLANTIS MAINLAND TOURNAMENT
SECU Arena to hold four-team tournament November 29-30
TOWSON, Md. – The Towson men’s basketball team is set to welcome The Citadel, Abilene Christian and West Alabama to SECU Arena for the Battle 4 Atlantis Mainland Tournament, which will run November 29-30.
The Tigers will take on The Citadel on Friday at 5 p.m. and then host Abilene Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Audio and video of the games involving Towson will be available via the Towson Sports Network (TSN) with Spiro Morekas and Vince Angotti on the call.
Also on Friday, Abilene Christian will battle West Alabama at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, The Citadel will take on West Alabama in the final game of the tournament. Both of the games not involving Towson will be live streamed on TowsonTigers.com.
Towson (4-2) is coming off a 75-60 home win over UMBC on Tuesday. Senior Marcus Damas led the Tigers with a season-high 22 points and seven rebounds.
The Tigers have won eight straight home games dating back to last season and are a perfect 4-0 inside their new home, SECU Arena.
The Citadel (3-4) dropped back-to-back road games against Tennessee (86-60) and Wake Forest (82-54) before picking up a home win over Montreat College (109-64) on Monday. The Bulldogs are led by Matt Van Scyoc, who averages 18 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Abilene Christian (2-6) had its two-game winning streak snapped with a 93-65 setback at Xavier on Monday. Junior guards Harrison Hawkins and LaDarrien Williams each averaged over 11 points per game for the Wildcats.
West Alabama is a Division II school that competes in the Gulf South Conference. The Tigers are 1-1 on the year and have also played exhibition games at UTEP (L, 67-46) and Southern Cal (L, 73-57).
