Come Rock Your Red with Barry Trotz in Bel Air!

Posted on 21 November 2014 by WNST Staff

Attention Washington Capitals fans: This is your chance to ROCK YOUR RED! We at WNST, in conjunction with Comcast SportsNet, are pleased to announce a live appearance with Capitals head coach Barry Trotz on Wednesday, December 10th at Buffalo Wild Wings in Bel Air. The puck drops at 730pm! We’ll reminisce with Coach Trotz about his old days leading the Baltimore Skipjacks, and we’ll talk about his transition back to Washington D.C. as head coach of the Caps. Does he feel that the Caps are close to contending for a Stanley Cup? We’ll cover all of that and much more in a night of great food, fun, and puck talk at Buffalo Wild Wings in Bel Air!

Coach Trotz will be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans, but there will be a limit of one per person (time permitting).

As has become a WNST tradition, the great folks from There Goes My Hero will be in the house swabbing anyone who has not yet been added to the bone marrow transplant database. If you are between the ages of 18-55 and have not yet “swabbed,” please visit There Goes My Hero and learn more about how you can save a life by swabbing a Q-Tip inside your mouth for 30 seconds. Seriously! We’ve swabbed over a thousand people and have raised tens of thousands of dollars since we began our #JennStrong initiative this past spring. It’s our mission here at WNST to save as many lives as humanly possible, and we thank Coach Trotz for helping us work towards that goal!

As always, a special thanks to our friends at Freedmont Mortgage for presenting all of our live events here at WNST. If you’re looking to buy or refinance a home, don’t make a 30 year mistake by choosing the wrong lender – visit Freedmont Mortgage now! Also thanks to Enoch Office and Rugenix for their continued support. Rob and the gang at Buffalo Wild Wings in Bel Air will take care of making sure your food is delicious as always – all YOU have to do is show up rocking your red! See you on December 10th, Caps fans!

Hope you’ll join me for US/Ghana Monday night at Buffalo Wild Wings Bel Air!

I swear to everything holy I mean this…I don’t know if I remember a better first four days to start a World Cup in my life.

There was Mario Balotelli’s splendor in Italy’s win over England, Switzerland’s stunning extra time goal to top Ecuador, The Netherlands’ improbable blowout win over defending champion Spain, Lionel Messi’s “Messi-ac” goal vs. Bosnia, Costa Rica’s amazing upset of Uruguay and even Brazil’s floptastic Cup-opening comeback win over Croatia.

It’s been an excellent four days of football to start things in Brazil.

Team USA finally gets into the action Monday night with the first Cup match of the Jurgen Klinsmann/post-Landon Donovan era. The German-born coach has practically declared the Yanks’ first group stage match against Ghana as “must win” due to the difficulty that lies ahead with Portugal and his home country in the next two group stage matches.

Just how important is this first match? Here’s how Klinsmann described it to ESPN.com before departing for South America.

We basically start with a World Cup final against Ghana. We need badly these three points. If we get three points against Ghana, I think then that the confidence will rise, the guys will be pumped up, and they will be ready for Portugal and give them a real fight.

So…big game, huh?

As a patriot myself, I’m taking my responsibility to support my country quite seriously. It’s with that in mind that myself and my pal Carl Delmont (our buddy from Freedmont Mortgage-the official sponsor of our World Cup coverage here at WNST.net) will be heading up to Harford County Monday night for the match.

We’ll be at Buffalo Wild Wings in Bel Air-one of our favorite area hangouts. I’ll be arriving between 5 and 6 to get ready for the match. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be the guy draped in an American flag and with Red, White and Blue hair.

My hair colors don’t run, folks.

If you’re a patriot yourself, you need to be there. If you believe, if you believe that, if you believe that we, if you believe that we will, if you believe that we will win, if you believe that we will win, if you believe that we will win-you need to be there.

Also, if you think I won’t be echoing said chant TIME AND TIME AGAIN tomorrow night, you’re wrong.

There are going to be great specials during tomorrow night’s match. Tall Buds are just $3.65 and Natty Bohs are only $2.75. I mean, what’s more American than cheap beer?

I’ll probably put down roughly five or six hundred boneless Asian Zing wings while I’m there. This is your reminder to purchase some of them for me. Thanks in advance. I’ll also grab a bunch of other giveaways to bring with me for anyone who shows me their own levels of patriotism during the course of the match.

Monday night. 6pm. Buffalo Wild Wings Bel Air (5 Bel Air South Parkway in the Festival at Bel Air). Tell Rob Thorpe the Yankees suck when you see him there. Duke too.

Cheap beer. Wings. Team USA. It’s like Lee Greenwood riding a bald eagle in a 4th of July parade.

See you at BWW.

If you missed the first ever “Asian Zing Throwdown” Friday on “The Morning Reaction” on AM1570 WNST.net, here’s your chance to catch up.

As you can see, I defeated WNST station manager by an (unofficial) total of 29 wings to 20 over the course of eight minutes. Truthfully I think I might have done a few more and she a few less, but I wouldn’t be a good sport if I challenged the total.

Ashley was a valiant competitor and I was glad to have had the opportunity to participate. Thanks to Dennis Schocket for providing the soundtrack for the morning and a MAJOR thanks to Buffalo Wild Wings in Bel Air for pitching in.

Now’s the part where you come in.

Based on the number of 29 wings, I ask that you consider a $29 donation to the Baltimore Child Abuse Center, or another variation of the number 29 if you can.

You can mail checks (made payable to Baltimore Child Abuse Center) or cash to:

WNST
attn: Asian Zing Throwdown
1550 Hart Rd.
Towson, MD 21286

You can also stop by any day next week at the same address between 6am and 6pm to drop off your donation.

Thanks in advance and I’ll look forward to talking to you again July 9 when I return from Paris and London. Go Orioles!
