The Baltimore Sun and Washington Post each reported Monday that the University of Maryland basketball team will participate in the 2014 College Basketball Experience (CBE) Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City November 24th & 25th.
According to the Post, the other participating teams in the Kansas City portion of the event are Iowa State, Alabama and Arizona State.
The Terrapins last participated in the event in 2007, dropping games to UCLA and Missouri both by double digit figures.
The event has expanded in the years since and now also includes two games against lower conference opponents on a participating school’s home floor. Those opponents have not yet been announced for Maryland.
The CBE Classic is organized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and is hosted in conjunction with the induction ceremony for new (and founding) members of the College Basketball Hall of Fame, located at the College Basketball Experience.
Former coach Lefty Driesell is the only Terrapin currently recognized in the College Basketball Hall of Fame. Driesell was inducted in 2007 when the Terrapins last participated in the event.
