TOWSON BEGINS ROAD TRIP AT OREGON STATE ON WEDNESDAY
Tigers seek second straight win over the Beavers at Gil Coliseum
CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Towson men’s basketball team returns to action on Wednesday as the Tigers travel to the west coast to take on Pac-12 foe Oregon State.
The game, set to tip at 10 p.m. EST, can be seen live on the Pac-12 Network with JB Long and Lamar Hurd on the call.
Fans can also listen to the game on the Towson Sports Network (TSN) with Zach Maskavich calling the action.
Towson (7-4) will be seeking its first road win of the year as the Tigers make their second trip in two years to Oregon State. Towson is coming off a 102-72 win over Central Penn on December 10 for its 11th straight home win, a streak that ranks as the 18th longest in Division I men’s basketball.
Senior forward Jerrelle Benimon recorded the first triple-double in school history to lead the Tigers past the Knights. Benimon posted 17 points, 18 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists in the win.
Benimon was also a major factor in Towson’s 67-66 overtime win at Oregon State last year as the forward tallied 20 points and 21 rebounds to lead the Tigers to their first win over a BCS school since 1995.
Oregon State (5-2) is led by the dynamic scoring duo of Roberto Nelson (24.7 ppg) and Devon Collier (22.7 ppg). The Beavers have won five of their last six games, including a 90-83 win at Maryland on November 17. Oregon State is 4-1 at home this season and its only loss at Gill Coliseum came in a game that Collier did not play.
The Tigers and Beavers have split the only two meetings between the squads with each team winning on the other’s home court.
