TERRANCE WEST NAMED AS NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK

West Shares Award With Fordham’s Michael Nebrich

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior running back Terrance West (Northwestern H.S./Baltimore, Md.) of No. 3 Towson University has been named as the co-winner of the National FCS Offensive Player of the Week Award, it has been announced by officials at The Sports Network.

West shared the award with junior quarterback Michael Nebrich of unbeaten Fordham University.

West, who has been named as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week three times this season, earned the national award after his performance in the undefeated Tigers’ 44-28 victory over No. 19 New Hampshire last week.

The fourth-leading rusher in NCAA FCS, West led the Tigers past New Hampshire by rushing for a seasonal high 238 yards on 28 carries with three touchdowns.

With the Tigers trailing by 20-3 in the second quarter, West scored on a 50-yard touchdown run to cut the Tigers’ deficit to 20-10. With 6:51 left in the first half, his one-yard TD run pulled Towson to within 20-17.

West scored his final touchdown of the game with 2:33 remaining in the third quarter, upping the Tigers’ lead to 44-20.

For West, it was the third 200-yard game of his college career, and all of them have come against New Hampshire. In three career games against UNH, he has rushed for 735 yards on 70 carries for an amazing 10.5 average per carry. He has also scored nine career touchdowns against UNH.

West’s performance against New Hampshire enabled him to become the second-leading rusher in Towson history. He has now run for 3,226 yards in his career with 58 rushing touchdowns.

He has scored 59 touchdowns in 27 career games. With 59 career touchdowns, he is fifth on the CAA’s all-time list.

With 15 touchdowns in six games this season, he leads NCAA FCS.

The Tigers, who have won 10 games in a row, return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they host No. 15 Villanova in Unitas Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on NBCSports Network.
