BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Football will face Kentucky in the inaugural game of the Bobby Petrino era at 6:00 p.m. CT on August 31, 2013 in Nashville at LP Field, WKU Director of Athletics Todd Stewart announced today. In addition, WKU has announced game times for the remainder of the 2013 home football schedule, including contests with Navy and Arkansas State at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
WKU and Kentucky will be playing for the fourth consecutive year, as the Hilltoppers defeated the Wildcats in Lexington last season in overtime. The game in Nashville will mark the second time in the last three years that the two programs have met at the NFL venue, with Kentucky winning 14-3 in 2011. The game will be the first for new WKU head football coach Bobby Petrino, while it will also be the first game for Mark Stoops as the head coach at Kentucky.
WKU will open the 2013 home schedule with Morgan State on Sept. 21 at 6:00 p.m. CT followed by a meeting with Navy on Sept. 28 at 6:00 p.m. CT. WKU will also welcome Troy to L.T. Smith Stadium on Oct. 26 at 3:00 p.m. CT for Homecoming before closing out the home schedule with Arkansas State on Nov. 30 at 3:00 p.m. CT. Game times are subject to change as television appearances may alter game times.
The times released for the five games hosted by the Hilltoppers are in addition to the previously announced time for WKU’s meeting at home with Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. CT on ESPN or ESPN2.
