MURRAY, Ky. — The Towson men’s basketball team saw its record-setting season come to a close on Thursday night as the Tigers fell, 85-73, at Murray State in the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
Towson, which set a Division I program record for wins in a season, ends the year at 25-11. The 2013-14 Tigers set numerous records this season, including winning the first two Division I postseason games in school history and playing the most games ever by a Tiger squad.
With the win, Murray State improves to 21-11 overall and 15-1 at home. The Racers will host Pacific in the semifinals of the CIT on Tuesday.
Senior Mike Burwell led the Tigers with 20 points, while All-American candidate Jerrelle Benimon finished with 18 points and nine rebounds.

TOWSON TO PLAY CIT QUARTERFINAL GAME AT MURRAY STATE
Tigers to face Racers on Thursday at 8 p.m.
MURRAY, Ky. – The Towson men’s basketball team will play its quarterfinal game in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament on Thursday at Murray State.
Tip time is set for 8 p.m. EST at the 8,600-seat CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
Murray State (20-11) is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and has been to the NCAA Tournament 15 times, including in 2010 and 2012.
The Racers breezed past Omaha, 86-62, on Monday night to advance to the Elite 8 of the CIT.
Towson (25-10) earned its spot in the tournaments quarterfinals with its 83-77 victory at East Tennessee State on Friday. Sophomore Four McGlynn paced the Tigers with a season-high 23 points, including six three-pointers, in the win.
Towson and Murray State have met twice on the hardwood with each squad winning on its home court. The Tigers won the most current meeting with the Racers, a 79-58 win at the Towson Center in 1981.
