INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Stevenson men’s lacrosse team will be making its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship as the fourth-ranked Mustangs will host Christopher Newport at Mustang Stadium in the first round on
Wednesday, May 8. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

Stevenson (17-2) finished the regular season with at least 15 wins for the fifth-straight year and is 8-4 in the NCAA tournament. The team has advanced to the national semifinals in three of its four previous appearances and is 1-0 in first round contests.

Meanwhile, Christopher Newport (8-8) is making the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse
Championship. The Captains, who will be joining the Capital Athletic Conference next year, have only been in existence since 2007.

Wednesday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Mustangs and Captains.

The winner between Stevenson and Christopher Newport will advance to the second round on Saturday, May 11 to face the winner between Washington (Md.) and Colorado College.

The quarterfinals will be on Wednesday, May 15 with the semifinals on Sunday, May 19. The Division III national championship game will be played on Sunday, May 26 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Seven of Stevenson’s 2013 opponents were selected to the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship, including Western New England, Nazareth, Tufts, RIT, Salisbury, Lynchburg and Roanoke. The Mustangs went 5-2 against those teams with their only losses to Tufts and Roanoke, both by just one goal.

SALISBURY, Md. – Stevenson men’s lacrosse sophomore Pat Candon (Long Beach, N.Y./Holy Trinity) scored his second goal of the game with just 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter off an assist from junior Chris Dashiell (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) to lift the No. 3 Mustangs to a 10-8 victory over No. 6 Salisbury Wednesday night at Sea Gull Stadium.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Stevenson (10-1) who improved to 4-5 all-time at Sea Gull Stadium. It was also the sixth
time in 15 career meetings that the game was decided by two goals or less, including the fourth out of the last seven.

Candon, who had just one assist in three previous games in the series, finished with three points on two goals and one assist. He also picked up his third career game-winning goal.

The Mustangs trailed 3-2 with 6:06 remaining in the first quarter following Stephen Norris’ third goal of the game.

However, Candon tied the game just 41 seconds later before sophomores Billy Burgoyne (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and Michael Crowe (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) each netted second quarter tallies to give Stevenson a 5-3 halftime lead.

The goals were the beginning of a 6-0 run for the Mustangs who added three third-quarter goals, including two from senior Tyler Reid
(Clinton, Conn./Xavier) and a second from Burgoyne as Stevenson led 8-3 with 10:30 left in the third.

Salisbury (10-3) answered with a 5-0 run of its own, capped by Eric Kluge’s third goal of the game to tie it at 8-8 with 5:56 to play as
the Sea Gulls held Stevenson scoreless for a span of 19:34.

Reid added an insurance goal with just seven seconds remaining, his third score of the game. He now has six goals in six career meetings against Salisbury with five of those coming at Sea Gull Stadium.

Meanwhile, Dashiell finished with two assists and the Salisbury native now has three goals and five assists in six all-time meetings against the Sea Gulls. He also picked up the win in his first-ever game against his brother Brady who is a freshman attacker for Salisbury.

In goal, freshman Dimitri Pecunes (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) won his first career start against the Sea Gulls, making 12 saves,
including six in each half. He is the third Mustang to win his first-ever start against Salisbury, joining Geoff Hebert in 2009 and
Ian Bolland in 2011.

Kluge totaled three goals and one assist to lead the Sea Gulls who were 0-for-6 with the man-advantage. Norris also finished with three
goals while Wade Korvin had three points with two goals and one assist. Alex Taylor totaled 15 saves in goal.

Stevenson continues its three-game homestand with a Commonwealth Conference contest at Alvernia on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Stevenson men’s lacrosse junior Kyle Holechek (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola Blakefield) was named to the 2012 ECAC Division III Men’s Lacrosse Mid-Atlantic All-Star Team on Wednesday. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a first team all-conference selection.

A USILA Second Team All-America selection, Holechek was also named to the All-CAC First Team and led the team with 54 caused turnovers. He also led the team with 79 ground balls while adding a goal and two assists from his defensive position.

Holechek anchored a defense that allowed just 6.13 goals per game, ranking the Mustangs 10th in Division III in scoring defense.

Joining Holechek on the first team defense was Salisbury’s Andrew Sellers, Cabrini’s John McSorely and Utica’s Mick Krajacic.

The Capital Athletic Conference had eight players represented, including seven from Salisbury and one from Stevenson. The State
University of New York Athletic Conference also had eight while the Liberty League and Colonial States Athletic Conference each had three and the Empire 8 Conference had two.

Salisbury’s Sam Bradman was the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year while Union’s Sean Aaron repeated as a Defensive Player of the Year. RIT’s Brendan MacDonald received Rookie of the Year honors.

The ECAC all-star team is voted on by ECAC members.

Holechek was also one of only 12 players in Division III to be named to Lacrosse Magazine’s Jac Coyne’s All-America Team on Wednesday.

SALISBURY, Md. – No. 1-ranked Salisbury scored four third-quarter goals while Alex Taylor totaled 19 saves as the Sea Gulls advanced to their 14th national championship game with a 7-2 victory over fifth-ranked Stevenson Sunday in the semifinals of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship at Sea Gull Stadium.

The Mustangs (18-5) finish the season one win shy of the school record for wins in a season set in 2010 while making their third semifinal appearances in four NCAA tournament berths from 2009-12.

Sunday marked the 14th all-time meeting between the two schools and the third in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first quarter despite Salisbury holding a 12-3 advantage in shots. Senior Ian
Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) made four first-quarter saves.

The game remained scoreless until the Sea Gulls’ Lantz Carter scored unassisted with 3:46 remaining in the second quarter. The goal was the first allowed by either team in the series in a span of 36:20 since Salisbury’s Sam Bradman scored with 10:06 left in the fourth quarter of the CAC championship game on April 28.

That would be the only goal of the half despite the two teams combining for 35 shots. Bolland had seven first-half saves while Taylor finished with nine.

Cory Nowak scored the first of his two goals with 8:09 to play in the third quarter which sparked a three-goal run by the Sea Gulls who led 4-0 with 5:40 remaining in the quarter when Nowak netted his second off an assist from Bradman.

Nowak and Bradman accounted for all three goals in a span of 2:29 as Bradman scored the first of his two goals at 6:59.

Freshman Michael Crowe (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) got Stevenson on the board with 4:34 left in the third quarter before Bradman answered less than a minute later give Salisbury a 5-1 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Taylor stopped seven of 12 Mustang shots in the third quarter.

After being outshot by nine in the opening quarter, Stevenson held a 38-23 advantage over the final three quarters, but could muster just
two goals  as Taylor totaled 17 of his 19 saves.

The Mustangs also held a 39-31 edge in ground balls while the two teams were statistically even in face-offs won, turnovers and clears.

In addition to Taylor, the biggest difference came on the extra-man where Stevenson was 0-for-6.

Junior Peter Green (Hereford, Md./Hereford) had five ground balls and two caused turnovers while junior Parker Bratton (Baltimore,
Md./McDonogh) had two caused turnovers.

Bradman totaled two goals and one assist to lead the Sea Gulls while Nowak and Matt Cannone each had two points.

The loss concludes the careers of 10 seniors on the Mustang roster. Over the last four years, the senior class was responsible for a
record 72 wins, posting a 72-12 record for an .857 winning percentage. The team also made four NCAA Tournament appearances during that time and advanced to three national semifinals.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men’s lacrosse junior Tyler Reid (Clinton, Conn./Xavier) totaled six points with five goals and one assist, breaking the school’s NCAA Tournament record for goals as the No. 5 Mustangs advanced to semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship with a 14-7 victory over No. 8 Denison Wednesday at Mustang Stadium.

With the win, Stevenson (18-4) improved to 13-1 at home this season and advanced to its third national semfinal in four NCAA Tournament appearances. The team is also one win shy of the school record for wins in a season set in 2010.

The win also sets up a third meeting between the Mustangs and rival Salisbury for the third time this season. Sunday’s game will mark the ninth meeting between the schools in the last three seasons and the third in last four in the NCAA Tournament.

For Reid, he now has 19 goals in five games in the NCAA Tournament, breaking the school record held by Richie Ford who had 15 in eight games.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and held an 8-3 advantage at the half. In 22 games this season, Stevenson has outscored its opponents 131-57 in the first half, including 80-27 in the second quarter.

Reid scored four of his five goals in the first half, including three in-a-row to end the second quarter.

Denison (15-2), who suffered both of its losses this season at Mustang Stadium, pulled within four on Alex Hardt’s 37th goal of the season with 10:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. Both teams would exchange goals over the next two minutes before the Mustangs finished the game by netting the final three to send the team to its third semifinals.

Freshman Stephen Banick (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte) finished with four goals while senior Nick Rossi (Lutherville, Md./Towson) had two goals and one assist and sophomore Chris Dashiell (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) had one goal and two assists.

Senior Justin Lea (Elkridge, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) also scored two goals.

Senior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) totaled 11 saves to lead the defense while junior Kyle Fendlay (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and junior Peter Green (Hereford, Md./Hereford) each had three caused turnovers.

Hardt finished with three goals to lead the Big Red while Cory Couture had two goals and one assist. Nick Petracca was credited with 15 saves.

Sunday’s semifinal game time between Stevenson and Salisbury will be announced on Thursday.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson men’s lacrosse senior Nick Rossi (Lutherville, Md./Towson) and junior Tyler Reid (Clinton,
Conn./Xavier) each totaled five points as the fifth-ranked Mustangs advanced to their fourth consecutive national quarterfinals with a
13-6 victory over No. 20 Gettysburg Saturday at Mustang Stadium.

Stevenson (17-4) improved its record to 12-1 at home this season and 72-14 in eight seasons under head coach Paul Cantabene. The team is 7-3 in four appearances in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship, including 7-2 at home.

The Mustangs also raised their record to 96-2 all-time when allowing six goals or less.

As a result of Stevenson’s win and No. 8 Denison’s 10-5 road victory over No. 2 Lynchburg, the Mustangs will host the Big Red in the
quarterfinals of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship next Wednesday, May 16 at Mustang Stadium. Game time will be announced on Monday.

Rossi’s five points set a new career-high as he finished with a goal and career-best four assists while Reid, who had six points in
Wednesday’s first round win over Birmingham-Southern, added five more on Saturday with three goals and two assists.

In four career NCAA Tournament games, Reid has totaled 17 points on 14 goals an three assists. He is one goal and five points shy of the
school NCAA Tournament record. Steve Kazimer scored 22 points in six games while Richie Ford netted 15 goals in eight games.

Stevenson took a 6-2 halftime lead after outshooting the Bullets 23-10 and winning 9-of-10 faceoffs. The Mustangs outscored Gettysburg 5-0 in the second quarter and won all six faceoffs.

Gettysburg (11-7) would rally, scoring three of the first four goals of the second half to pull within 7-5 with 7:21 remaining in the third
quarter. However, that would be as close as it would get as the Stevenson scored six of the final seven goals, including two from
Reid, both of which were assisted by Rossi.

The Mustangs outscored the Bullets 4-1 in the fourth quarter, limiting them to just four shots.

The Stevenson defense was led by nine saves from senior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) who improved his record to 37-7 as a starter, including 3-1 in the NCAA Tournament.

Junior Kyle Holechek (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola Blakefield) finished two caused turnovers and four ground balls while sophomore Warren Pumphrey (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary’s) added three caused turnovers.

Freshman Sam Wyatt (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) won 15-of-22 face-offs and in two NCAA Tournament games, has won 25-of-35 for 71.4 percent. He won 10-of-12 in the first round versus Birmingham-Southern.

Robby Maddux led Gettysburg with three goals and one assist. Jon Maddalone was credited with 14 saves.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson men’s lacrosse junior Tyler Reid (Clinton, Conn./Xavier) tied a career-high with five goals while
adding one assist for six points, one shy of his career-high, as the fourth-ranked Mustangs began their fourth NCAA Division III Men’s
Lacrosse Championship with a 13-2 win over Birmingham-Southern in the first round Wednesday at Mustang Stadium.

Stevenson (16-4) won their sixth NCAA tournament game with all six victories coming at home where they have posted a 6-1 record.

After Erik Klein scored his team-leading 62nd goal of the season with 12:33 left in the first quarter to give the Panthers an early 1-0
lead, the Mustangs scored the next 10-straight, including four from Reid, as they built a 10-1 advantage with 7:27 left in the third quarter.

Two of Reid’s goals came with on the man-up where Stevenson was 4-for-10 for the game. Three of the Mustangs’ final four goals came
with a man-advantage. After going 0-for-3 on the extra-man in the first quarter, Stevenson scored on four of its final seven extra-man
opportunities.

The Mustangs also did well at the face-off dot, winning 13-of-18 with freshman Sam Wyatt (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) winning 10-of-13. He also had seven ground balls.

Freshman Billy Burgoyne (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) also had a career-high, totaling three points with two goals and one assist.  Sophomore J.P. Coombe (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary’s) also had two goals while sophomore Chris Dashiell (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) and senior Kenny Whittaker (Dundalk, Md./Archbishop Curley) each had one goal and one assist.

Meanwhile, the Stevenson defense was led by 10 saves from senior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) while juniors Kyle Holechek (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Kyle Fendlay (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) each had three caused turnovers.

Jacob McPherson finished with one goal and one assist for Birmingham-Southern who was making its first-ever appearance in the
NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship in just its fourth season as a program. Andrew Huffman was credited with 15 saves.

The Mustangs host Gettysburg in the second round on Saturday. Game time will be announced on Thursday. The Bullets lead the overall
series with Stevenson 2-1 with the last meeting coming in the semifinals of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship
with Gettysburg prevailing on the road, 12-7.

Meanwhile, Birmingham-Southern (14-4) is making the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse
Championship after capturing its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title. The Panthers, who are located in Birmingham,
Alabama, defeated Colorado College 8-5 in the SCAC championship game on April 29.

Wednesday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Mustangs and Panthers.

The winner between Stevenson and Birmingham-Southern will advance to the second round on Saturday, May 12 to face the winner between Gettysburg and Ohio Wesleyan.

The quarterfinals will be on Wednesday, May 16 with the semifinals on Sunday, May 20. The Division III national championship game will be played on Sunday, May 27 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Ohio Wesleyan is one of seven opponents from Stevenson’s 2012 schedule that were selected to the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship. Four of those opponents, SUNY Cortland, Tufts, Salisbury and Lynchburg, all received first round byes as the top two seeds in the North and South regions. The other two teams are Western New England and Denison.

The Mustangs posted a 4-3 record against those seven opponents with wins against Tufts, Western New England, Denison and Ohio Wesleyan.

DELAWARE, Ohio - Stevenson men’s lacrosse freshman Stephen Banick (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) led the team with two goals and three points, scoring both of his goals in a decisive third quarter as the No. 4 Mustangs wrapped up the regular season Saturday with a 10-5 non-conference road victory at Ohio Wesleyan.

Stevenson (15-4) finished the regular season with at least 15 wins for the fourth-straight year in anticipation of its fourth consecutive selection to the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

The NCAA selection show will take place Sunday, May 6 at 10:00 p.m., on NCAA.com.

As for Saturday, the Mustangs jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Ohio Wesleyan (11-4) scored three of the next four goals to pull within one when Spencer Schnell netted his second of the game just 54 seconds into the third quarter.

However, that would be as close as the Battling Bishops would get as Stevenson outscored them 5-2 in the third quarter, the last two of which came from Banick to give the Mustangs their biggest lead of the game at 9-4.

Stevenson outshot Ohio Wesleyan 16-5 in the third, but won just 2-of-7 face-offs. The Battling Bishops won 12 of the game’s 16 face-offs, but were 0-for-5 on extra-man opportunities.

The Mustangs, who committed a season-low 10 turnovers, received two goals each from Banick, sophomore Chris Dashiell (Salisbury, Md./Parkside), senior Kenny Whittaker (Dundalk, Md./Archbishop Curley) and senior Justin Lea (Elkridge, Md./Mount Saint Joseph).

Senior Nick Rossi (Baltimore, Md./Towson) also had two points with one goal and one assist.

Senior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) was credited with nine saves to lead a defense that allowed five goals or less for the 10th time in 19 games this season.

Schnell and Tommy Minkler each had two goals and one assist to lead Ohio Wesleyan while Ryan McMahon had 15 saves.
