Anaconda Player of the Week
DYLON CORMIER, LOYOLA MARYLAND Sr., G, 6-3, 184; Baltimore, Md./Cardinal Gibbons
Cormier continues to fill it up early in the season, scoring 34 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to lead the Greyhounds to an 89-83 overtime win at UMBC on Wednesday. He made 12-of-22 shots and 9-of-13 free throws while recording his second career double-double, and also his second in the last three games. Cormier tied his career-high previously set on Nov. 10 against Cornell, and set a career-best with the 12 field goals. He has scored 30 points or more in three of Loyola’s first four games, and is the first player in the school’s Division I history (since 1981-82) to start the year with four-consecutive games of 20 or more points. Cormier is third in the nation with 29.8 points per game, and is averaging 13.0 points in the last 10 minutes of games as Loyola has rallied in each win during its 4-0 start. He is named Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks.
Anaconda Rookie of the Week
MALACHI ALEXANDER, HOLY CROSS Fr., F, 6-7, 217; Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt
Alexander wins his second-consecutive Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week award after averaging 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in three games for the Crusaders. He scored in double figures in each game, putting up 13 in a 63-49 win over Fairfield on Wednesday, 10 in an 81-70 loss to Belmont on Saturday and 13 again in an 80-55 victory over Hartford on Sunday. Alexander made 62.5% of his shots (10-of-16) for the week and hit 75% (15-of-20) at the foul line. He has scored in double figures in five straight games and is averaging 13.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for the year.
MURPHY BURNATOWSKI, COLGATE Sr., F, 6-7, 230; Waterloo, Ont./National Elite Development Academy
Burnatowski averaged 21.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Raiders.
SETH HINRICHS, LAFAYETTE Jr., G, 6-7, 218; Clara City, Minn./Maccray
Hinrichs averaged 23.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 57.1% from the field in two games for the Leopards.
CAMERON AYERS, BUCKNELL Sr., G, 6-5, 203; Blue Bell, Pa./Germantown Academy
Ayers averaged 20.0 points and shot 57.7% from the field in a 1-1 week for the Bison.
