I hate talking about race.I mean, I REALLY hate talking about race.
But I can’t help but think that maybe the Suggs comments were fueled by race.
The 2 Live Stews are very recognizable in the black community; especially somewhere like Atlanta. They set up Terrell Suggs with a question about whether or not a black QB should be playing in Baltimore.
Terrell Suggs may have had no choice but to answer the way he did.
For Terrell Suggs to have answered; “No, Joe Flacco is our quarterback and that’s the way it’s gonna be” might not have been received well in the black community. Maybe I’m wrong about that; but I think Flacco almost had to say what he said given the circumstances.
Does it make what he said okay? Not necessarily. But I also don’t think his comments are a big deal. I don’t think he said he didn’t believe in Joe Flacco. I think he simply attempted to support his teammate Troy Smith. And MAYBE, just MAYBE; the Ravens WOULD be a better team if Troy Smith was on the field for at least PART of games.
But I don’t think this is the issue that some of our callers made it out to be this morning. I really think this is a non-issue; and won’t be an issue unless Flacco’s struggles worsen over the next few weeks.
And as far as the “bounty” is concerned; let’s be real. This isn’t the first time there’s been a bounty out for a NFL player. And trust me; EVERYONE wants to take a shot at Hines Ward.
Let’s see what everyone else has to say…..

SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:-I don’t know why Ralph is being so vague about the Kevin Barnes situation. My guess is that there is a chance he could return for a Terps Bowl game; so Ralph doesn’t want to rule him out for the season yet. But if he is going to be out long term; Ralph should just tell everyone; as there isn’t a competitive advantage either way.
-I hope Drew Forrester is wrong about Chris McAlister. I hope he IS back next season. But it isn’t pretty.
Talk to you tomorrow.
