Terps say ACC title hopes not gone despite FSU loss

Defensive Lineman Zeke Riser

On bouncing back after the game at Florida State:

“It’s really positive; I’ve been on really good teams and really bad teams so whenever guys take losses hard that’s a good sign. If no one cares about losing then that’s when you have a problem.”

On Virginia:

“They’re really big upfront; they’ve got a really strong running game like they’ve have had in the past. We really have to stop the run like we have to do every week so that’s what we’re basing everything on this week.”

Offensive lineman Sal Conaboy

On putting the Florida State game in the past:

“We just knew that we had to, that’s just a game you have to get out of your mind in less than 24 hours and I think we did a good job with that. We had a good session Sunday and hopefully that’ll carry over to today.”

On Saturday’s game against Virginia:

“We’re excited; we’re really looking forward to getting out this week and getting after it. We’re putting an emphasis on being physical and this is going to be a physical game and we’re really excited for another border battle.”

On the key to winning Saturday’s game:

“Be physical, focus on the little things, our technique, just really getting after it.”

Offensive lineman De’Onte Arnett

On preparing for Saturday’s game against Virginia:

“The biggest thing we’re worried about is perfecting our technique and cleaning up what we didn’t do well last week. We want to make sure that we don’t tip off in our stances, go back to the basics.  We felt like we did that in the bye week, but we’ll put a little more emphasis on it this week cleaning things up.”

On head coach Randy Edsall’s message to the team following the game at Florida State:

“That one’s in the books, it’s a classic saying, but that one’s in the books, can’t continuously worry about what happened.  We have to learn from the tape and then move on.”

Linebacker Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil

On the Florida State game:

“There were a lot of things we could have done differently; I think we lost that game mentally. It’s unfortunate, but that game is in the past and we’re just trying to get it out of our system and just get ready for Virginia.”

On the mood in the locker room following Saturday’s game:

“We’re definitely upset about losing last week, but we just have to get that out of our system. There’s a lot of football left this season; our hopes and dreams have not ended. We just have to flush it out of our system and get ready for Virginia.”

On the team’s expectations moving forward:

“The goal is still to win every game; you never know what is going to happen. Definitely, don’t think the chances of us becoming ACC champs have gone down the drain. In the meantime, you just have to control what you can control and going out there and giving it your all and trying to win every game.”
