Top 10 Baseball Distractions

June 27, 2011 | Glenn Clark

5. High School Lacrosse: Under Armour All-America Lacrosse (Girls Game Saturday 4pm Unitas Stadium, Boys Game Saturday 8pm from Unitas Stadium live on ESPNU); Pro Lacrosse: MLL Rochester Rattlers @ Chesapeake Bayhawks (Saturday 7:30pm from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium live on ESPN2), LXM Pro Tour (Saturday 8pm Unitas Stadium)

Saturday night would be a hell of a night to be at Towson, with a ton of lax before Wale takes the stage to close out the night.

It’s an upgrade on what happened when I used to visit a gal I dated at Towson on Saturday nights…which usually looked a lot like this…

I swear I know that guy. We all do.

4. Mixed Martial Arts: UFC 132-Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber (Saturday 9pm from Las Vegas live on Pay-Per-View)

If you didn’t watch the VERSUS UFC card Sunday night (and with no Nate Marquardt, I’m assuming the passive MMA fan probably…well…passed), I encourage you to enjoy the Cheick Kongo-Pat Barry main event. I thought Kongo was knocked out and the fight should have been stopped.

Seconds later….wow. Watch now, it will probably be taken down shortly…

3. Soccer: FIFA Women’s World Cup-Team USA vs. Korea (Tuesday 11:45am from Dresden, GER live on ESPN/, Team USA vs. Columbia (Saturday 11:30am from Sinsheim, GER live on ESPN/; MLS-Philadelphia Union @ DC United (Saturday 7pm from RFK Stadium live on Fox Soccer Channel)

No matter what happens in the Women’s World Cup, it is an absolute fact that it will NOT be as cool as what Giovania dos Santos did for Mexico in the Gold Cup Final. And no matter who is calling these games for the ESPN crew, no freaking WAY they make a call as awesome as whoever called dos Santos’ goal for Univision…

I hate that it happened against us…but…damn…that’s a win.

2. Competitive Eating: Nathan’s Famous 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest (Monday 12pm from Coney Island, New York live on ESPN)

If you peruse YouTube, you can find a video of hot dog champ American hero Joey Chestnut preparing for an asparagus eating contest…

That’s awesome and all, but he’s no Glenn Clark…

1. Tennis: ATP Tour & WTA Tour Wimbledon (Tuesday & Wednesday 7am & 1pm live on ESPN2 10am live on NBC, Thursday & Friday 7am live on ESPN2 12pm live on NBC, Saturday-ladies’ final-9am live on NBC, Sunday-gentlemen’s final-9am live on NBC. All tennis from London, ENG)

Over the years I’ve expressed my undying love for Andy Roddick many times in this space.

If Mardy Fish gets past Tomas Berdych Monday-my allegiances officially change. It’ll be nothing but loving pictures of Mardy moving forward.

In the meantime, I’m ALREADY all in on Sabine Lisicki, who defeated Li Na last week in matchup of gals who probably didn’t know they were fighting for my heart…

Flexing my mic muscles since 1983…
