Top 10 Baseball Distractions

July 11, 2011 | Glenn Clark

4. Soccer: FIFA Women’s World Cup-Team USA vs. France (Wednesday 11:30am from Moenchengladbach, GER live on ESPN2/, Women’s World Cup Final (Sunday 2pm from Frankfurt, GER live on ESPN); MLS-DC United @ FC Dallas (Saturday 9pm from Dallas live on Comcast SportsNet)

So soccer continues to give us better…well…EVERYTHING than any other sport. First there was the goal Julio Gomez scored for Mexico in the U-17 World Cup after having his head BUSTED OPEN…

And then there was the miraculous goal scored by Abby Wambach as Team USA stormed back to beat Brazil Sunday…

And then there was this picture of Hope Solo. I don’t think you’ll need any background.

3. Pro Wrestling: WWE Money In The Bank (Sunday 8pm from Chicago live on Pay-Per-View)

Is there something wrong with me if I don’t enjoy the above picture any more than I enjoy the video of CM Punk’s UNREAL promo a few weeks ago???

2. Golf: The Open Championship/British Open (Thursday & Friday 4am Saturday & Sunday 6am from Sandwich, ENG live on ESPN); PGA Tour Viking Classic (Thursday-Sunday 4pm from Madison, MS live on Golf Channel)

Tiger Woods isn’t playing in the British Open. That would be relevant news if Tiger Woods was at all a threat to WIN the British Open. Since he’s barely a threat to make the cut anymore, nothing to see here.

Another statement about this weekend’s Open? Unless Tom Watson wins or someone pulls a Jean Van de Velde, no one is going to care next Monday…

1. Artscape feat. Matisyahu, Fantasia, G. Love, Pietasters (Thursday-Sunday Mount Royal District)

BEST weekend all year to be in Baltimore. Although as much as I’m looking forward to seeing G. Love and Matisyahu, there’s no way they’ll live up to Robert Randolph two years ago…

Flexing my mic muscles since 1983…
