Top 10 Baseball Distractions

8. Arena Football: AFL Playoffs-Chicago Rush @ Arizona Rattlers (Saturday 8pm from Phoenix live on NFL Network), Georgia Force @ Jacksonville Sharks (Monday 8pm from Jacksonville live on NFL Network)

I’ve been known to get a little excited about things that happen in my former home of Phoenix. Trust me, I love Baltimore SIGNIFICANTLY more than anywhere else-but I’ll admit that I’d be really excited to see the Rattlers reach the ArenaBowl.

Seriously though, Phoenix is a place where you can go to LoLo’s and order a meal that looks like THIS. It HAS to be a great place, doesn’t it?

7. Swimming: USA Swimming National Championships (Tuesday & Wednesday 9pm from Stanford, CA live on Universal Sports)

And this comes on the heels of last week’s “other swimming event” championships, where Michael Phelps may or may not have done well or none of it mattered and we didn’t really pay attention so who cares.

It was a great weekend for swimming.

Does Amanda Beard still swim? I’d watch that…

6. Auto Racing: NASCAR Good Sam RV Insurance 500 (Sunday 1pm from Tunkhannock Township, PA live on ESPN); IndyCar Series Honda Indy 200 (Sunday 2pm from Lexington, OH live on VERSUS)

I don’t pay much attention to NASCAR, but I know two things happened this past weekend.

1-Paul Menard won the Brickyard 400. This angered some folks because Paul Menard is the son of a billionaire and we don’t like people who are born into wealth…even though we’d all like to see our own kids get the same chance. I’d say we aren’t reasonable people but you already knew that.

2-Travis Pastrana couldn’t make his Nationwide Series debut because of injuries. I know that disappointed a number of gearheads, but can we try to remember that this is the same man who did this…

…come on, can’t we be willing to give the man an “awesomeness”-related pass?

5. Pro Wrestling: TNA Hardcore Justice (Sunday 8pm from Orlando live on Pay-Per-View)

Things are so bad for TNA Wrestling (apparently) that they are legitimately advertising a time when WWE champion CM Punk used to work for the company on the front page of their website.

In fairness, I couldn’t tell you a thing about what’s going on with TNA Wrestling. Not a thing. Except the involvement of one Mickie James. And, well, I’m pretty sure you’ll understand…
