Top 10 Baseball Distractions

4. Golf: WGC Bridgestone Invitational (Thursday & Friday 2pm live on Golf Channel Saturday 12pm live on Golf Channel 2pm live on CBS Sunday 11am live on Golf Channel 1pm live on CBS. All golf from Akron, OH); PGA Tour Reno-Tahoe Open (Thursday-Saturday 6:30pm Sunday 7pm from Reno, NV live on Golf Channel); Champions Tour 3M Championship (Friday 12pm Saturday & Sunday 4pm from Blaine, MN live on Golf Channel)

The “news” in the golf world is that apparently Tiger Woods is going to play this week in Akron. I put “news” in quotes because Tiger Woods isn’t any good at golf anymore, so why is it exactly that anyone would care about what he’s doing?

Of course, I HAVE been enjoying my copy of EA Sports’ Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’11. (Thanks, South Park!)

3. Tennis: ATP Tour Legg Mason Tennis Classic (Tuesday-Sunday William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park Thursday 4pm live on Tennis Channel Friday 2pm & 9pm live on Tennis Channel 5pm & 7pm live on ESPN2 Saturday 3pm live on ESPN2 7pm live on Tennis Channel Sunday 3pm live on ESPN2)

If you know me (and I assume you do at this point), you know that it’s ABSOLUTELY worth the trip to the nation’s capital to see the boys of the ATP Tour do battle this week. James Blake will be there, Mardy Fish will be there, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic won’t, so an American will have an opportunity to win-which is nice.

Hey, we might not dominate the world in tennis anymore, but you know what we OWN? KanJam. Bring it on, other countries…

2. Mixed Martial Arts: UFC 133-Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz (Saturday 9pm from Philadelphia live on Pay-Per-View)

I was at the last UFC PPV in Philly, UFC 101. It was the night where everyone was booing Anderson Silva…right up until he did this to Forrest Griffin…

1. NFL: Baltimore Ravens open practice (Saturday 10am M&T Bank Stadium), Ravens single game tickets on sale (Friday 10am Ticketmaster); Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (Saturday 7pm from Canton, OH live on NFL Network)

It will be nice to see Shannon Sharpe and Deion Sanders go into the Hall this weekend. It would be nicer to see someone else get there…
