Top 10 Baseball Distractions

4. Soccer: Mexico @ Team USA (Wednesday 9pm from Philadelphia live on ESPN2); MLS: Vancouver Whitecaps @ DC United (Saturday 7:30pm RFK Stadium)

Every highlight in soccer is better than every highlight in anything else ever.

For example, here’s an assist from some German guy that lead to a goal scored by someone named Mario Gotze. I know nothing about any of this, other than the fact that it’s awesome.

And as if THAT wasn’t awesome enough, here’s a goal scored by Marco Fabian in the FC Barcelona-Chivas match. HUMAN BEINGS CAN DO THIS!!!!

3. Pro Wrestling: WWE SummerSlam (Sunday 8pm from Los Angeles live on Pay-Per-View); “WrestleMania: The World Premiere” (Saturday 9pm NBC)

I think back to all of the SummerSlam memories I have from my childhood….like….well….any time Bret Hart did anything. I just don’t remember all of them right now.

Anyway, SummerSlam MIGHT be awesome this year, mostly because of one man. That man being of course the great CM Punk.

Holy hell I’m so all in on Punk.

Oh and also there’s Kelly Kelly…doing…anything.

2. Golf: PGA Championship (Thursday & Friday 1pm live on TNT, Saturday & Sunday 11am live on TNT 2pm live on CBS. All golf from Johns Creek, GA)

They should really consider pressing some sort of charges against the dude who’s traveling around to stops on the golf tour and dressing like Tiger Woods. That dude is CLEARLY not Tiger Woods. That has to be some sort of crime.

Drew Forrester is out of town this week, so I guess I don’t have to pick Chi Chi Rodriguez just to piss him off.

The problem is…I don’t know if any of the other dudes on the golf tour are any good. For example, is this guy Steve Williams they’re always talking about any good?

I hit about 3 of 21 drives REALLY well when I was at Churchville Golf Sunday. I’m reasonably certain that makes me better than Tiger Woods.

Okay, that’s enough golf for ever. Thanks for bearing with me.

I’ll pick Chi Chi Rodriguez this week.

1. NFL Preseason: Baltimore Ravens @ Philadelphia Eagles (Thursday 7:30pm from Philly live on WBAL11 & Comcast SportsNet)

There’s been a lot of talk about Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie, Vince Young, Michael Vick, Ronnie Brown and the Iggles being the new NFL “Dream Team.” For Ravens fans headed up I-95, they should certainly be in for a treat.

So if you’re making the trip to the City of Brotherly Love for the preseason opener Thursday, I encourage you to REALLY take in the Philly football experience. For example, stop outside “The Linc” and see their beautiful Super Bowl trophy case…
