Top 10 Baseball Distractions

8. Auto Racing: NASCAR Wonderful Pistachios 400 (Saturday 7:30pm from Richmond live on ABC)

I know Richmond isn’t that far away, but there’s no way I’m ever attending another NASCAR race until they become as awesome as last weekend’s IndyCar Series Baltimore Grand Prix was.

You know, other than the Tony Kanaan-Helio Castroneves thing…

7. Boxing: WBC Heavyweight Championship-Vitali Klitschko vs. Tomasz Adamek (Saturday 4:45pm from Wroclaw, Poland live on HBO); Jimmy Lange vs. Raul Munoz (Saturday 7pm Patriot Center)

A heavyweight championship fight? I remember when those things used to matter!

The funny thing is that there are literally kids who have no idea that it means something to be the heavyweight champion of the world in boxing.

In a related story, the fight is happening in Poland. Did you know Kristen Bell is Polish? What a neat coincidence

6. Pro Wrestling: TNA “No Surrender” (Sunday 8pm from Orlando live on Pay-Per-View)

I don’t particularly enjoy TNA Wrestling, but I will admit that I am a fan of Rob Van Dam. He ALMOST makes the whole company worth watching…

5. Soccer: Team USA @ Belgium (Tuesday 2:30pm from Brussels live on ESPN/; MLS: DC United @ Chivas USA (Saturday 10:30pm from Carson, CA live on Comcast SportsNet); College Soccer: Boston College @ Maryland (Friday 7:30pm Ludwig Field); Towson @ UMBC (Wednesday 7pm Retriever Soccer Park), Navy @ UMBC (Saturday 7pm Retriever Soccer Park)

I’ve heard plenty of people say Team USA looked better offensively than they ever have in their 1-0 loss to Costa Rica last Friday.

I know this much…they lost the match 1-0. And the guy who scored the goal for the Costa Ricans was Rodney Wallace (a former Maryland Terrapins star), so I was particularly bitter.

I WOULDN’T have been so bitter had Costa Rica scored their goal the way Ronaldinho scored a goal last week…

Yes, that was a corner kick. No I don’t understand either.
