Top 10 Baseball Distractions

8. Charm City Roller Girls (Saturday 5:30pm Du Burns Arena)

I haven’t figured out why the CCRG haven’t gone ahead and signed Edita Vilkeviciute to be a part of the gang…

7. College Lacrosse: Loyola Fall Ball Event feat. Stony Brook, Siena, Villanova (Saturday 1pm Ridley Athletic Complex); College Basketball: Late Night with the Hounds (Thursday 9pm Reitz Arena)

Lots of awesome things going on at Loyola. One-Jimmy Patsos got a commitment from Sean Tuohy Jr., the younger brother of Baltimore Ravens OT Michael Oher. He’s a little bit older (and bigger) than he was portrayed by Jae Head in “The Blind Side”…

Two-Former Terps star Keith Booth was added to Joe Logan’s Women’s Basketball staff…

But neither of those things are quite as cool as the Midnight Madness video put together by the gang at UMBC…

Go Retrievers.

6. Golf: PGA Grand Slam of Golf (Tuesday & Wednesday 4pm from Southampton, Bermuda live on TNT), PGA Tour Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic (Thursday-Sunday 2pm from Lake Buena Vista, FL live on Golf Channel); Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship (Thursday-Sunday 7:30pm from Yang Mei, Taoyuan, Taiwan on Golf Channel)

Gun to your head. Name the golfers who won the Masters, US Open, British Open and PGA Championship this season and will be participating in the Grand Slam of Golf. I didn’t think so.

Luke Donald and Webb Simpson go into the final event of the PGA regular season locked in a tight battle for the money title. It would be captivating if you knew who Webb Simpson was.

Look, we could sit here and keep talking about golf or we could watch a commercial for a toilet. (Thanks to my buddy BJ Appel for this one.)

5. Auto Racing: NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Good Sam Club 500 (Sunday 2pm from Talladega, AL live on ESPN)

It’s hard to try to say anything funny about Auto Racing right now. Sure, NASCAR has nothing to do with the IndyCar Series where Dan Wheldon died Sunday-but it’s difficult nonetheless.

Instead of even bothering, I’ll offer the video of the “5 Lap Salute” IndyCar drivers offered to Wheldon Sunday. We’ll return to shtick, attractive women and food porn after that.
