4. Pro Wrestling: WWE Royal Rumble (Sunday 8pm from St. Louis live on Pay-Per-View)
Probably time for us to recognize the greatest moment in Royal Rumble history…
I mean, Kane was a tough matchup for Drew Carey. I would have given him better odds against some other guys.
3. Mixed Martial Arts: UFC on FOX 2-Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis (Saturday 8pm from Chicago live on FOX)
Even if you’re not a MMA fan personally, I’ll assume you’ll be able to admit that this is MUCH better programming for the network than some of the other options they currently offer…
If you’re a human being who watches this television program there is little chance you and I will agree about much of anything in life.
2. Tennis: Australian Open (Tuesday & Wednesday 7pm Thursday 11pm Saturday 5:30am Sunday 12:30am live on Tennis Channel, Tuesday 9pm Wednesday 3:30am & 9:30pm Thursday & Friday 3:30am Saturday 3am Sunday 12:30am live on ESPN2. All tennis from Melbourne, AUS)
The bad news? No American men women alive in the final week at the Aussie Open.
The good news? Maria Sharapova AND Caroline Wozniacki are very much alive.
So…you know…still a pretty decent week Down Under.
1. College Basketball: Duke @ Maryland (Wednesday 9pm from Comcast Center live on ESPN), Virginia Tech @ Maryland (Saturday 2:30pm from Comcast Center live on ACC Network-WNUV 54 in Charm City); VCU @ Towson (Wednesday 7pm from Towson Center live on AM1570 WNST.net), UNC-Wilmington @ Towson (Saturday 2pm Towson Center); Morgan State @ Hampton (Monday 7pm from Hampton, VA live on ESPNU)
Wednesday night is a big night in College Park, as the Terrapins rename the Comcast Center floor “Gary Williams Court.”
And since I’m having a tough time believing that there will be another great moment etched into Maryland lore Wednesday night, I will instead re-watch the Blue Devils’ heartbreaking home loss to Florida State over the weekend and take enjoyment from it.
Yeah, that still worked pretty well.
Flexing my mic muscles since 1983…
