Top 10 Baseball Distractions

4. NHL: Carolina Hurricanes @ Washington Capitals (Tuesday 7pm from Verizon Center live on Comcast SportsNet), Tampa Bay Lightning @ Washington Capitals (Thursday 7pm from Verizon Center live on Comcast SportsNet/NHL Network), Washington Capitals @ Boston Bruins (Saturday 1pm from Boston live on Comcast SportsNet/NHL Network), Toronto Maple Leafs @ Washington Capitals (Sunday 5pm from Verizon Center live on Comcast SportsNet)

I watched the Capitals-Flyers game Sunday night at Jilly’s in Pikesville.

The bad news (if for some reason you’re a Capitals fan)? That team is TERRIBLE.

The good news (whether you’re a Capitals fan or an actual good person)? They have something on the menu at Jilly’s called “Chips and Cheese.” It’s the most honest description of any menu item I’ve ever seen.

3. High School Basketball: MPSSAA Semifinals 3A-Centennial vs. Thomas Stone (Thursday 3pm), Tuscarora vs. Patterson (Thursday 5pm); 4A-North Point vs. Roosevelt (Thursday 7pm), Magruder vs. Sherwood (Thursday 9pm); 1A-Pocomoke vs. Dunbar (Friday 3pm), Smithsburg vs. New Town (Friday 5pm); 2A-Easton vs. Largo (Friday 7pm), South Carroll vs. Lake Clifton (Friday 9pm); Finals-1A (Saturday 1pm), 3A (Saturday 3pm), 2A (Saturday 6pm), 4A (Saturday 8pm) (All games from Comcast Center)

Nothing that happens in College Park this weekend could be remotely as awesome as what Gary Harris did last week…

2. College Lacrosse: Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic-Princeton vs. North Carolina (Saturday 11am from M&T Bank Stadium live on ESPNU), Virginia vs. Cornell (Saturday 1:30pm from M&T Bank Stadium live on ESPNU), UMBC vs. Johns Hopkins (Saturday 4pm from M&T Bank Stadium live on ESPNU); Manhattan @ Johns Hopkins (Tuesday 3:30pm Homewood Field); Maryland @ UMBC (Tuesday 7pm UMBC Stadium); Marist @ Maryland (Saturday 1pm Byrd Stadium); Duke @ Loyola (Saturday 12pm Ridley Athletic Complex); Widener @ Stevenson (Wednesday 7pm Mustang Stadium)

I plan to do the Greyhounds/Blue Devils, Blue Jays/Retrievers double dip Saturday. I expect to see plenty of good lacrosse, I don’t expect to see anyone do anything similar to what Tim Desko did for Syracuse against Virginia…

1. College Basketball: ACC Tournament-Maryland vs. Wake Forest (Thursday 12pm from Atlanta live on ESPN/ACC Network-WNUV 54 in Charm City); MEAC Tournament-Morgan State vs. Hampton (Tuesday 11am from Winston-Salem, NC live on, Coppin State vs. Florida A&M (Tuesday 9pm from Winston-Salem, NC live on; Selection Sunday (Sunday 6pm CBS)

And Sunday night will be particularly special over off Charles Street…

Congratulations again to Coach Patsos and company.

Flexing my mic muscles since 1983…
