Top 10 Baseball Distractions

April 24, 2012 | Glenn Clark

8. Golf: PGA Tour Zurich Classic of New Orleans (Friday & Saturday 3pm live on Golf Channel, Saturday & Sunday 3pm live on CBS. All golf from Avondale, LA); Mobile Bay LPGA Classic (Thursday & Friday 12:30pm Saturday & Sunday 3pm from Mobile, AL live on Golf Channel)

Masters champion Bubba Watson returns to golf this weekend, allowing all of us the opportunity to ask the question “so what is Tiger Woods doing?”

Also, Watson recently posted a picture of a miniature green jacket he and his wife have for their son. The picture immediately became known as THE.ABSOLUTE.MOST.ADORABLE.THING.EVER…

7. Auto Racing: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 400 (Saturday 7pm from Richmond live on FOX); IndyCar Series Sao Paulo Indy 300 (Sunday 11am from Sao Paulo, BRA live on NBC Sports Network)

And from “some other racing series”, here’s a car taking out a camera…

Of note, the car was driven by this human being-apparently known as a “Lizzy Musi”…

Insert your own sexist joke here. I’ve been sued once, a-holes.

6. NBA: Washington Wizards @ Cleveland Cavaliers (Wednesday 7pm from Cleveland live on Comcast SportsNet), Miami Heat @ Washington Wizards (Thursday 8pm from Miami live on Comcast SportsNet); NBA Playoffs begin (Saturday Times and Locations TBD)

The Cavs and the Heat to wrap the season? I feel like those two teams have something in common?

The ‘Zards really struggle with this basketball concept. You see, before you’re eliminated from the playoffs you’re supposed to try to win. After you’re eliminated from the playoffs you’re supposed to try to LOSE.

They’ve done neither of these things in our nation’s capital this season. Also on the list of things they didn’t do? Hire Kristina Akra. That was the Nationals/MASN…

Why do I even bother working in this business?

5. Soccer: UEFA Champions League Semifinals-FC Barcelona vs. Chelsea (Tuesday 2:30pm from Barcelona live on Fox Soccer Channel), Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich (Wednesday 2:30pm from Madrid live on FX); MLS-Houston Dynamo @ DC United (Saturday 7:30pm from RFK Stadium live on Comcast SportsNet); UEFA Euro 2012 expansion for FIFA12 available (Tuesday)

There are no Italian teams to root for in the Champions League semis, so I’ll root for Chelsea because “Midnight in Chelsea” is the last tune that was even semi-decent that Jon Bon Jovi put out…

That’s called “logic”, people.
