#WNSTSweet16 – The 16 local athletes who never won a title, but deserved to win one

Greivis Vasquez – #13 on the list – was Maryland’s best basketball player in the “post-championship era” and won the ACC Player of the Year Award in 2009-2010.  The lack of a NCAA championship will forever make him “second fiddle” to Juan Dixon, but Vasquez was a dynamic player on the court who seemingly improved each season under the tutelage of Williams.  His charm and character made him a Maryland fan favorite.  If any Maryland player of the last two decades deserved to win a title based on his overall contribution to the program, it indeed was #21.

Great list. My only quibble is including Rosie Napravnick. She is entering the prime of her jockey career. Given her familiarity with Pimlico, Belmont and Churchill (where she is based in May and June) she will have many more cracks at a Triple Crown win.
