#WNSTSweet16 list highlights Baltimore’s best ever college hoopsters

#11 – David Gately, Loyola

Loyola has enjoyed its fair share of prominent players over the years and one of their best “all around” players was David Gately, who still ranks in the top 5 in several of the team’s offensive categories.

He’s the 3rd ranked all-time leading scorer in Loyola history with over 1,751 points.

HERE’S THE LOYOLA COLLEGE BASKETBALL RECORD BOOK TO SEE WHAT GATELY DID IN HIS FOUR YEARS ON CHARLES STREET.

A local college basketball follower said of Gately — “He’s one of those kids who had a game that would translate to today’s style very well.  He was good with the ball, was tough as nails and would run the play the coach gave him.”

Great list. I would offer a few other names for an honorable mention list: Roger Dickens (TSU), Pat McKinley (TSU), Brian Matthews (TSU), Ronald Smith (U of B), Tony Carter (Coppin St), Yarborough Roberts (Morgan St), and Teddy Jones (U of B).

Excellent List and research, Drew. Struck a chord of many memories of greatness. My only honorable mention would be, Maurice “Mo” Cannon (Loyola College).
